Join us for a true Dinner Party, complete with cocktail hour and multi-course family style meal. Our February guest is Harold Wilken, farmer, miller, and owner of Janie's Mill in Ashkum, IL.
.
The evening will kick off a cocktail and appetizer hour featuring the ingredients grown and milled by Janie's Mill along with grains grown (and some distilled) by Granor. We will then move to the Granor Greenhouse for a family style meal loaded with Granor-grown produce and grains from Janie's Mill.
.
The meal will be paired with Granor Table Wines and full NA beverages are available upon request. A selection of Janie's Mill ingredients will be available for sale on the night of the event. Note that while we accommodate all dietary restrictions, this menu will feature gluten prominently.
The idea for Janie’s Mill sprung up one day as Harold was watching tons of his organic wheat flow into a semi to travel far from Janie’s Farm.
He suddenly thought, "Really?! My grain has to go 700 miles to feed a chicken, when there’s all these millions of people nearby who eat bread?”
And so the seed of what would become Janie’s Mill was planted. It took years of research and planning before they began stone-grinding grains from Janie’s Farm in the spring of 2017. They worked with bakers to get their input and feedback and by fall, they were milling consistent, high quality flours that earned kudos from both home and professional bakers. They've been milling those flours, and adding more to meet bakers’ specific needs ever since, and can’t wait for you to use their flours, grits, and whole grains in their kitchen or bakery!

Our 2026 Granor Farm Kick Off Event will be one of the most special nights on the farm. Join us for a true Dinner Party, complete with cocktail hour and multi-course family style meal. This first-of-the-series event is in support of Passages: Artists in Solidarity with Immigrants, Refugees, and Asylum Seekers, a brand new compilation album featuring newly commissioned songs from Dirty Projectors, Bonnie "Prince" Billie, Alan Sparhawk of Low, and many others.
.
The evening will kick off a cocktail and appetizer hour with the album's co-producer Emilie Rex and DJ set from local musican and album contributor Erik Hall. We will then move to the Granor Greenhouse for a family style meal, inspired by the idea of 'home', which is central to the mission of the work, all accompanied by the Pasages vinyl LP as our dinner music. This event continues the project's fundraising efforts with donations going directly to the two Texas-based, non-profit support organizations, American Gateways and Casa Marianella.
.
Albums will be available for pre-order at the time of booking and for purchase on the night.
The meal will be paired with Granor Table Wines and full NA beverages are available upon request.
Join us in our Greenhouse for a five-course, individually-plated meal that showcases the best of Granor's crops and other ingredients from local farms and global producers. Every menu is unique to that specific event and is a snapshot of our farm at that exact moment in time.
