Please join us for Book and Supper Club with John Birdsall, whose new culinary culture deep dive, What is Queer Food? How We Served a Revolution, explores how the Food in America and Europe has long been shaped, twisted, and upended by queer creatives.
-
John Birdsall is the author of The Man Who Ate Too Much: The Life of James Beard and is the recipient of two James Beard Awards for food and culture writing.
-
The evening will kick off with drinks and a conversation between John and local farmer and queer food author, Taylor Hartson about the importance and state of queer food in America in urban and rural spaces.
-
Following the discussion will be a multi-course meal with dishes inspired by John's book. Each ticket includes a copy of John's most recent book. The event will conclude with a book signing. Copies of Taylor's new book, Playing in the Dirt, will be available for purchase on the night.
-
This event is produced in collaboration with Harbor Country Pride.
-
Garden Grove Inn in Union Pier is offering a limited availability add on package that includes a double occupancy, Saturday-night stay at the Inn, transportation to and from the dinner, and breakfast with John on Sunday morning.
