Beans make up the backbone of so many different food traditions and this class will teach the basics of bean cooking as well as some of our favorite preparations. Each attendee will receive a variety of Granor-grown beans and a recipe booklet.

This year Mike Costello and Amy Dawson, from West Virginia's Lost Creek Farm, are joining in on the fun. Together they farm, cook, and collect Appalachian Foodways history. This year's Bean Nouveau will feature heirloom beans and recorded stories of the farmers who shared those seeds with Mike and Amy along the way.

Inspired by the annual of Beaujolais Nouveau Fete, France's party around the first bottles of wine of the season, we are honoring the return of our favorite ingredient with a multi-course dinner featuring just harvested beans from West Virginia and Michigan while hearing first hand accounts from those who grow and preserve such precious seeds.
Granor Farm is fortunate to be rooted in a region supported by a variety of organizations devoted to improving the common good. Granor’s “Community Benefit Dinner” series connects diners with regional place-makers with Granor Farm as a philanthropic partner. Our program begins with a discussion orientated around the organization and how it connects to the region, followed by a multi-course meal showcasing ingredients grown by Granor.

Plus specialty cheese selections along with Granor Wines, and will offer tastings of both.This year we will have pasture-raised, non-GMO turkeys from Bowman & Landes Family Farm in New Carslile, Ohio. To prepare for Thanksgiving, we will demonstrate preparing and baking a pie as well as answer your pie questions, including insights to making the flakiest pie dough, trouble-shooting baking issues, and how to store and plan for your holiday pies. Each attendee will leave with a recipe booklet with our favorite pie recipes and a ball of pie dough ready for the big feast.
