Third Annual Bean Nouveau and "Not Chili Cook Off"

Date Nov 09 2024
Time 12:00-6:00PM

Join us for Granor Farm's Third Annual Bean Nouveau, celebrating the 2024 bean harvest. This year's festivities will include bean bag tosses, bean counter jars, and the first ever "Not Chili Cook Off", a fundraiser for Blessings in a Backpack, an area non-profit that provides supplemental food assistance to under-resourced children in the River Valley School District.

Participating in this year's Cook Off are David's Deli (New Buffalo), Louisa's Swedish Bakery (Harbert), Patellies (Three Oaks), Ray and Al's (Galien), and the Granor Kitchen. Each business is making their favorite bean stew recipe with a different heirloom bean with the only requirement that it not be chili. The triumphant business will win bragging rights for at least the next year.

Come by from 12-6pm to taste the stews and celebrate beans. Each bowl costs $25 with all proceeds going to Blessings in a Backpack. A bowl entitles you to unlimited stew, bread, and a vote for your favorite not-chili.

Blessings in a Backpack sends home a weekly bag of food for food insecure families providing 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and snacks every week. Every year for the school's Winter Break, they provide the families with gift cards to Hardings for food to supplement the two week break in food provided through the school system. The entire proceeds of the "Not Chili" Cook Off will go to increase the amount available to families during the holiday season.
