Holiday Cheers

The tractors have been covered in lights, the wreaths are out, and the poinsettias have arrived! The only thing that's missing is a cozy cocktail to enjoy while shopping in the farm store, sipping at our Taste of Granor Dinner, or mixing at home to set up for a festive upcoming holiday.

You can make any classic cocktail with our spirits, but make this holiday Bourbon Old Fashioned to impress your guests. We've created a ginger simple syrup from our fields, to add a warming spiciness that pairs beautifully with the complex richness of our Field Grain Series Bourbon. The syrup can be used to make homemade ginger ale, add a zip to your favorite tea, or mix in a little drizzle for a festive morning pancake.

THIS WEEK IN THE STORE

From the Farm: The sun made a rare appearance this week, and the burst of solar energy warmed our hoophouse just long enough for us to dart out and harvest Lettuce Mix, Curly Kale, Spinach, and Leeks before temperatures dipped back below freezing. Alongside those precious fresh greens, we’re harvesting Salad Mixes, Pea Shoots, and Microgreens from the greenhouse. In the Farm Store, look for our favorite Radicchio Blend, Fingerling Potatoes, Cabbages, Beets, Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Radishes, Turnips, and more. And don’t miss NEW Granor-grown Poinsettias!

From the Kitchen:  We have a variety of non-perishable Holiday Gifts from the Granor Kitchen: Herb Salt, made with Granor-grown herbs and chilies perfect for seasoning eggs, popcorn, or fish; Pancake and Brownie Mixes made with Granor-grown grains and certain to warm up your winter mornings. The freezer is filled with soups and mains including a new Cuban Pizza, Beef Stew and Chicken and Dumplings. Hot Pierogi will also be available to warm you up for a meal in store or to take home.

In the Farm Store: Holiday weekend menu planning has arrived in the farm store. This week we have a Cheese Tasting to answer your holiday hosting questions. We'll have our two favorite winter cheeses, the Blakesville Holiday Cheer & Rush Creek Reserve, a Belgium Gouda, a French Camembert, and an Aged Sheep Milk Cheese from Holland by way of California.

Come visit us in the Farm Store!

Uplands Cheese

Originally begun as a seasonal, pasture-based dairy farm by two families who came together to manage their herds as one, Wisconsin's Uplands Cheese continues the tradition of rotational grazing on a diverse range of grasses, legumes and herbs that give exceptionally high quality milk. Inspired by the alpine cheeses of France and Switzerland, Uplands make just two seasonally available cheeses - Pleasant Ridge Reserve is only made from May to October, and Rush Creek Reserve is only made in the fall, as the cows transition from pasture to hay.

Rush Creek Reserve is our favorite part of the Holiday Season. It is bound in spruce bark, which imparts a sweet, woodsy flavor to the cheese. Along with the savory flavors of the rind, the custard-soft paste has a deep but delicate richness. Pick up a round of this unique cheese at the Farm Store this weekend before it sells out for the year!
