Wedge Salad

This is one of our favorite salads in the summer. Cool crisp lettuce playing against the sweet tomatoes, salty bacon, and creamy buttermilk dressing. 


2 little gem head lettuce
4 oz bacon
1 pint cherry or juliette tomatoes
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
salt and pepper


  1. Cut the lettuce into quarters and wash, getting between the leaves and the stalk to loosen the dirt
  2. Allow to dry cut side down to allow the water to drip away
  3. Cut the bacon into 1/4" strips and cook until crispy
  4. Mince the garlic and combine with the buttermilk, olive oil, and a big pinch of salt
  5. Halve the tomatoes
  6. Place the dry lettuces on a serving platter and season with salt and pepper
  7. Drizzle with the buttermilk dressing
  8. Scatter the crispy bacon and cut tomatoes all over and serve
