Tomato and Burrata Flatbread

Somethings feel too simple to be so delicious, but the combination of tomato, fresh creamy cheese, and crispy, bubbly bread is just that.

Ingredients

1 package pizza dough
2 large heirloom tomatoes or 1 pint cherry tomatoes
1 ball burrata or fresh mozzarella cheese
3 sprigs basil
1/4 cup olive oil
1 clove garlic, whole

Method

  1. Thaw pizza dough and preheat oven to 450F
  2. Place a cast iron or oven proof frying pan into the oven
  3. Cut the tomatoes into large pieces or halves if using cherry tomatoes
  4. Dress the tomatoes with a pinch of salt, couple grinds of black pepper, and a hefty glug of olive oil
  5. Slice or tear the burrata roughly
  6. Remove the frying pan from the oven and gently stretch the dough to be the same size
  7. Place the pizza dough in the hot oven, drizzle with additional olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and then bake until cooked through and golden brown
  8. Remove from the oven, flip out of the pan and cut into large wedges or squares
  9. Rub the flatbread all over with the clove of garlic
  10. Tear the basil into the tomato mixture and serve alongside the burrata and flatbread pieces
