Tinto de Verano

This version will make a full pitcher of drinks for a party or if you're just starting early. 

Ingredients

1 lemon, zest
1 orange, zest
2/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup lemon juice
1 bottle red table wine
32 oz soda water
lemon wheels for garnish

Method

  1. Muddle the citrus peel with the sugar until the oils express
  2. Add the lemon juice and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves
  3. Remove from the heat and allow to steep for an hour then strain
  4. Combine the red wine, citrus syrup, then pour over ice, top with the soda and finish with a lemon wheel
