There's nothing better than cooking and eating, except reading about cooking and eating. Our Book + Supper Club combines those three loves in one evening of cookbooks, dinner, and conversation.
Please join us for a very special Book and Super Club with Jason Hammel, chef and owner of Lula Café as well as our long-time friend, mentor, and inspiration.
*Please note that this is for seating in Botanical Dining Room*
Since 1999, Lula Café has nurtured and developed Chicago's culinary culture. Helmed by Jason Hammel and Lea Tshilds, Lula is both a neighborhood breakfast joint and one of the most creatively ambitious dinner places around.
One of the first restaurants in Chicago to write their menu based on the offerings from regional farmers, Lula helped establish the now-bustling Logan Square Farmer's Market as well as spearhead youth education in Chicago Public Schools as a founding member of Pilot Light. Jason Hammel, his team, and their restaurant has long been not only inspiring culinary creativity and execution but training the next generations of chefs to further that work including Granor's own Abra Berens and Erin Stanley.
The evening will kick off with a conversation with Jason Hammel about how the history and innovation within the walls of Lula Café, and how to capture that within 270 cookbook pages, and why didn't Jason hire Abra back in 2007. Following the discussion will be a multi-course meal with dishes inspired by The Lula Café cookbook. The evening will conclude with a book signing.
Every ticket includes a copy of The Lula Café Cookbook. Additional copies of each will be on hand for purchase the night of the event.
